One way, SOAR! seeks to accomplish its mission is by developing a national network of concerned individuals.

Established in 1986, SOAR! is the direct result of a Wall Street Journal article that brought attention to the retirement needs of women and men religious in the United States. Its growth over the past 20 years has come about through diverse networking initiatives of concerned groups of lay people.

The founding network gave rise to a network of boards of directors. The network of donors includes individuals, corporations, and foundations. All of the networks connect generous and gracious lay people who have been instrumental in raising public awareness of the religious retirement crisis and making possible the grant program for religious communities to care for their elderly and infirm members.

If you would like to be among the lay people in support of SOAR, please go to Ways of Giving link or call the SOAR office if you would like to contribute in other ways.

SOAR’s networking history has also been shaped by several religious institutes: Leadership Conference for Women Religious, Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious, Conference of Major Superiors of Men, diocesan vicars for religious, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (particularly the National Religious Retirement Office), and independent religious congregations. link

Our SOAR donors connect with the religious congregations that receive grants through our Prayer Partners program.
If you know of a religious congregation that would benefit from a SOAR grant, please notify, Grants Program Coordinator, kwilkins@soar-usa.org.
